How I bill
To help assure your satisfaction, this briefly summarizes my billing procedures.
Charges
I charge $85 per hour for my creative and consulting time. This figure is all inclusive. It covers normal, everyday expenses such as parking and local travel and phone calls. If car travel beyond a 50 mile radius from your office is required, 51¢ per mile is charged. Any major expenses such as airline tickets, hotel rooms, meals, and delivery fees are billed at cost.
Other creative services, such as illustration, photography or copywriting can be arranged through me, or I will work with whomever you designate. Charges incurred will be passed on, they are not marked up.
The final bill for any assignment depends directly on time expended. I never charge “what the traffic will bear.” Nor do I have different rates for different size or type clients. I find this arrangement is beneficial to most clients because it directly rewards efficiency.
Estimates
Although the subjective nature of my work does not permit me to give firm bids or quotations, I will be happy to provide a written estimate of what I believe an assignment will cost. Obviously, the better the input, the closer the estimate will be to the final bill.
I also recognize the need for budget control and financial accountability, so I supplement my written estimates with email reports as the job progresses. These progress reports eliminate most end-of-job-surprises, and allow you to terminate an assignment at any time with no obligation beyond the time I have already invested.
Terms
To start work I require a purchase order made out to the amount of the estimate. All bills are payable within 30 days of receipt. Interest is charged on past-due amounts.
